The majority of silver coinage we buy is from either the US or Canada so it’s nice to come across a different batch of coins from time to time.

As a point of interest the US Mint actually produced coinage for the Netherlands from 1941 to 1945, after World War 2 modern Netherlands coins were made at the Utrecht Mint.

Some of the most well known silver bearing coinage from the Dutch Netherlands are the Guilder.  Most people call these coins Guilders but in actuality they are Netherland and/or Dutch Guldens, as you can see in the image below ‘Gulden’ is what is stamped on the coin.

In the image below you will see 1/2 Gulden or Guilder, 1 Gulden or Guilder, 2 1/2 Gulden or Guilder and the 10 Gulden or Guilder.  All of the Gulden coins shown in the image below contain .72 or 72% actual silver content.  From further information on the silver content of the Guilder and Guldens see below the image.
